Hi
I'm probably talking to myself but just in case there is anyone out there my apologies for lack of posts recently. It's the old story I'm afraid: trying to find enough time in the day to do everything. What with work, family, various commitments, etc., life is just one long catch up exercise - which is why I'd love to trade for a living, but that's another story....
Anyway I'm pleased to say my portfolio has been doing well recently, and 2 or 3 positions in particular have been amazingly good. Current account funds are £2077 which gives me a profit of around £1250 to date, and I have 65 open positions of which 48 are in profit. So, all in all, so far, so good. Most of my positions are in commodities such as oil and gas, gold, silver and other mining shares. This is looking like a really good year for commodities as far as I can tell...
Catch you soon.... Big Al

SLIGHTLY BETTER DAY...
Hi
not a particularly outstanding day on the markets although my portfolio did manage a reasonable gain of around £50 on the day. I was rather hoping for double that but, what the heck, a gain is a gain...
Usual mixed bag with lots of small downs and a few outstanding gains. Best performer is definitely PETRA DIAMONDS LTD with a massive 6.5 point rise on the day. All of my 7 positions in this company are solidly in the green and desperate for some stop raising, which I ... Continue reading...

3 BAD DAYS IN A ROW!
Hi
another bad day to report I'm afraid, with my portfolio down another £80 or so, largely thanks to commodities struggling again. I will just have to be of firm resolve, grit my teeth and think of England (at least until things improve!). Well I've been saying for ages my luck can't last forever........
It's a blip and in a few weeks times (or less) the upwards momentum will hopefully continue - might as well be optimistic as not!!
Anyway my portfolio took a battering tod... Continue reading...

GRIM DAY FOR COMMODITIES!
Hi
another fairly grim day I'm afraid with the FTSE down 24 points and my portfolio down around £80 or so. My account funds are now £1580 giving a current profit of £760.
I had a 2 x contract stop out today with PATAGONIA GOLD leaving me with a loss of £8 (could have been worse). Most of my shares are commodities, gold, silver, etc., and they're all going through a bad patch at the moment. Got to grit the teeth and ride it out because it's just the way things work... SCARY DAY!!
Hi
despite a valiant effort by the FTSE ending up at 6044 my portfolio took a serious hit today for the first time in over a month. I'm around £200 down and, yes, it's very painful. A lot of my positions are in oil and gas, gold, copper, etc., and all of these were seriously down today - just one of those things I guess. This is the problem with AIM shares: you can make big gains very quickly but, of course, they are, by nature, extremely volatile...
Anyway, despite the massive fall,... Continue reading...

SMALL INCREASE TODAY...
Hi
fantastic day on the markets today with the FTSE gaining a massive 114 points! Since most of my positions are 'tiddlers' in the AIM index, a great day on the FTSE rarely translates to my portfolio; having said that I did see a small increase today of around £40, so no complaints...
Two of my positions stopped out today for a loss of around £12, so not really the end of the world. To put this into context, however, 6 new positions executed today and I still ended up w... Continue reading...

NO COMPLAINTS THUS FAR!!
Hi
hope you all had a great Xmas and New Year. I had to work this morning but happily I was sent home after less than an hour!
Well I'm pleased to say that I have ended the year with just over £1000 profit. I started in April with £200 and have slowly topped up my account to the tune of £800 to date, giving a return of 125% (slightly better than putting it in a bank or savings account!).
As ever I am totally realistic about my reasonable success so far; I like to thi... Continue reading...

FAIRLY GOOD DAY!
Hi
another fairly good day despite the FTSE losing some ground to end at 5971 (looks like my prediction of 6050 is looking a bit shakey!).
Anyway the usual mixture today but with the greens being in the majority; some solid rises but no serious downs have given me a £60 gain on the day. After yesterday's sterling performance I honestly thought there would be a retrace in my portfolio, but lady luck is still with me for the moment...
No stop outs again and 3 new positions opene... Continue reading...

QUICK PRE NEW YEAR POST
Hi
Good Xmas but glad to see it behind us for another year...
Well bit of a neutral day for the FTSE, but I think it's just taking a short breather before moving upwards during the next few days (hopefully!).
The markets were kind to my portfolio today and most of my shares were in the green for a change. There were no stop outs and two new positions executed; both were pyramid contracts...

My account funds are currently £1... Continue reading...

STEADY RISE CONTINUES...
Hi
nice steady rise on the FTSE today bringing 6000 within 'spitting distance'. Can we make it or not? Well, I think we might tomorrow, and my bet is on 6050 for year end...
Well, dare I say it, yet another good day for my portfolio with an all time record of £1500 making my profit £700 since starting in April. I'd love to say that I was doing all the right things but I'm just having a fairly good run at the moment which cannot last forever - unfortunately. Anyway no... Continue reading...

About Me
I started spread betting in April 2010 with a small fund of £200. Since then I have added to this amount when finances permit - which is usually not very often.
To date my funds invested to my IG INDEX account amount to £800. This sum has varied considerably with my mistakes since starting; however, during the last 2-3 months, my IG account (profit) seems to be stuck in a range varying between £100 to +£500 (ish).
